Crafting the Container
A lot of what makes an event amazing is the subtle wisdom the facilitator holds and weaves into the workshop that might not be obvious and clear, but is part of what makes the work impactful and transformative. Having an understanding of the process of transformation and how things like resistance show up in our students (and in us!) can help us know how to guide people deeper without pushing them in unhelpful or harmful ways. A lot is about our orientation and mindset, subtle guidance cues and ways that we present information.
In this module we also touch on some basics of trauma-awareness, which is such a hot topic for a very good reason! A lot of new facilitators unintentionally cause harm by not understanding how and why trauma affects people, and we cover some simple ways you can present your work to prevent re-traumatisation as well as how to support someone if trauma shows up. You'll also learn the FLAME method for situation management if anything should arise in your even while you're holding space!
